Assemblyman sounds alarm on ill-advised toll hike

Assemblyman Ray Walter (R,C,I-Amherst) is partnering with local community members to fight a 45 percent toll hike on commercial trucks approved by the New York State Thruway Authority. Walter has initiated an online petition to make Western New York’s voice heard against this job-killing proposal and is continuing his fight to prevent the Thruway from harming the progress made to improveNew York’s business climate and job market.

“During my tenure in the Assembly, we have made strides to attract jobs by partnering with Governor Cuomo to re-openNew Yorkfor business. However, is appears the Thruway Authority is unwilling to join us,” said Walter. “The 45 percent toll hike on commercial trucks is an example of the job-killing policies that once plagued state government and droveNew York’s economy into the ground. This measure would force jobs out of our state and increase costs for businesses which would be passed onto consumers. I urge our entire community to join me in fighting this irresponsible proposal by saying ‘No Way!’ to the Thruway.”
